Al-Hikma University participates in a workshop to discuss and approve the draft national classification system for public and private higher education institutions, organized by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council.

The Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council organized a workshop to discuss and approve the draft document on the national classification system for public and private higher education institutions. Al-Hikma University participated in the workshop, represented by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Salah Masfer, and the Deputy Director of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at the University, Dr. Khairallah Al-Kamel.

The workshop, which was attended by the presidents of public and private universities, deans of development and quality assurance centers in educational institutions, and deans of community colleges, aimed to prepare a national classification system for higher education institutions in line with the national environment and identity, define the classification, determine its principles and objectives, review its methodology and references, and governance, and to prepare appropriate criteria and indicators for its implementation.

At the opening of the workshop, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi noted the importance of completing this national project, especially in light of the ongoing aggression against Yemen, praising the efforts of those involved in this project, which is a source of pride and honor.

He praised the level of attendance and active participation in discussing and enriching the project in accordance with a set of criteria and indicators that confirm the competitive advantage between universities at the national, regional, and international levels.

Minister Al-Saadi urged everyone to engage in serious discussion and to benefit from the comments and suggestions presented to enrich the project. He stressed the need to take into account the reality of the country when preparing programs and reforms carried out by the ministry and the council.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hatem Al-Da'is affirmed that the national classification project for higher education institutions aims to enhance competitiveness among universities and contribute to the advancement of their academic and technical performance.

He noted the efforts of the Higher Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation in this regard, stressing the importance of integration and partnership with various relevant parties in completing this project.

At the opening ceremony, attended by the Deputy Minister for Secondary Education, Dr. Zaid Al-Haddour, the Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, pointed out the importance of the complementary role between the sector and the Accreditation Council in implementing a number of joint projects and activities, considering the national classification project for universities to be one of the most important projects that has not received attention in the past.

He stressed that some universities need assistance to fulfill the role for which they were established in education, scientific research, and community service, emphasizing the need to spread the culture of national classification of higher education institutions in academic and research circles.

Meanwhile, the President of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, and his deputy, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi, reviewed the concepts and definitions of the national classification of universities, its principles, objectives, and references, as well as its levels and relationship to academic accreditation and its impact on enhancing academic and educational performance and the quality of university outputs.

Meanwhile, international expert Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharjabi and quality expert Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi reviewed the methodology for preparing the national classification document and its governance, while Secretary General of the Academic Accreditation Council Dr. Mohammed Deifallah and national expert Dr. Noman Fairouz presented the classification criteria and indicators. Dr. Anwar Masoud discussed the mechanism and methods of governing the implementation of the classification, and Dr. Nasser Al-Qadmi touched on the steps taken by the Science and Technology Authority in classifying Yemeni universities within the innovation index.

Following the opening ceremony, attended by the Executive Director of the Information Technology Center, Dr. Fouad Abdul Razzaq, ministry leaders, and members of the Accreditation Council, participants were divided into three groups to discuss and approve the classification criteria and indicators.
